Dr Amanda Begley is Director of Innovation and Implementation at UCLPartners, an Academic Health Science Partnership with over 40 higher education and NHS members which together form one of the world’s leading centres of medical discovery, healthcare innovation and education.

Amanda’s particular focus is to build partnerships and expertise to deliver innovation at scale and pace for patient and population benefit. She is co-Founder and national Director lead for the NHS Innovation Accelerator (NIA), which is delivered as a partnership between NHS England and the country’s 15 Academic Health Science Networks, hosted at UCLPartners. Within the first 16 months of the accelerator, the first 17 NIA Fellows have been supported to: scale their innovations to an additional 419 NHS providers and commissioners in England; secure £20m in external funding; win 14 awards and; 9 NIA innovations are now selling internationally.

Following her PhD, Amanda joined the NHS as an Assistant and Trainee Clinical Psychologist. Amanda has worked as a commissioner and senior manager across primary, community and secondary care, and as Head of Innovation at London’s Strategic Health Authority. While at UCLPartners, Amanda completed a part time secondment as a GSK Fellow. She is a Fellow at the Centre for the Advancement of Sustainable Medical Innovation (CASMI).
